Who is Murat Aydın?
Murat Aydın was born in 1960 in Bozat town of Piraziz district of Giresun. He graduated from Istanbul Imam Hatip High School in 1980 and from Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration in 1985. He completed his master’s degree with his thesis on “Different Approaches in Local Governments and Social Municipality Practices” at Istanbul University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Finance.
He won the 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014 Zeytinburnu mayoral elections four times in a row. In 2019, he also won the Beykoz mayoral election and elected as the Mayor of Beykoz.
Aydın, who is the Vice President of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and the President of the Turkish Photography Foundation (TFV), has been interested in the art of photography for many years. He opened two photography exhibitions titled “Portraits from the Earth” in 2011 and “Witnessing to the Moment” in 2018, and his photographs took place in many group exhibitions.
Aydın, who speaks English, is married and has two children.
